差別在陪的人是誰。陪診員或照顧員可以幫忙推輪椅、排隊、拿藥。護理師可以額外聽懂醫囑、判斷用藥衝突、處理路上的管路和傷口狀況。
一次門診到底包含多少事
掛號或報到、量血壓和體重、等候叫號、進診間聽醫囑、做檢查、批價、領藥、約下次回診，最後安全回到家。九個步驟，一個都跳不掉。
那九步會拉得更長，當長輩重聽、走路不穩、或者容易緊張的時候。一個人推輪椅、拿病歷、扶人上廁所、同時記住醫師講的話，做不完。
家屬自己帶長輩看診，最常漏掉什麼

醫師講話快，用詞專業。長輩點頭說知道了，走出診間就忘了。回到家你問媽媽醫師怎麼說，她說「他說還好」。

陪同就醫前要準備哪六樣東西
- 健保卡、身分證、重大傷病卡
- 目前吃的所有藥，連藥袋一起帶，不要只抄藥名

Three options, and they are not equal.
A family member knows the history and costs nothing beyond a day of leave. A paid companion or care attendant handles the wheelchair, the queues and the pharmacy. A registered nurse does all of that and follows the clinical conversation as well.
The right choice depends on whether the visit is routine or whether test results, medication changes or a wound review are on the agenda.
The five minutes families lose
Doctors speak quickly and use their own vocabulary. Your mother nods and says she understands, and by the corridor it is gone. You ask her that evening what the doctor said, and she tells you he said it was fine.
The same handful of things goes missing every time. Whether the new drug replaces an old one. How often the wound gets redressed. Which blood result came back abnormal. Whether to fast before the next visit. Which symptoms mean coming back early. You need those answers for the next three months of care.
What does a nurse add that a companion does not
The difference happens inside the consulting room, and in what you get afterwards.
A nurse follows the clinical language and asks while the doctor is still there. Whether two prescriptions share an active ingredient. Whether the dose matches what your parent takes now. Whether the new drug interacts with the long-term medication. Then she repeats it in words your parent can remember.
Afterwards you get it in writing. What the doctor said, what changed in the medication, when the next visit is, and which symptoms to watch. You can read it at your desk instead of reconstructing it from a phone call.
Your parent also needs someone with them on the journey if they have a feeding tube or a drain, have had surgery recently, or live with dementia. This is the shortest booking we arrange under special nurse care.
How much does an appointment escort cost in Taiwan
Most providers here charge by the hour or the half day, and rates vary a lot. Travel distance, waiting time, and whether the visit needs a nurse all affect the price. Ask about transport and overtime charges when you get a quote.
Alma charges by the shift. Day care is NT$6,000, 8am to 8pm. Night care is NT$6,600, 8pm to 8am. That is what you pay, with nothing added afterwards. Work out what your own day costs too. For many people in full time work, a day of leave plus travel costs more than hiring someone, and you still come home unable to remember what the doctor said.
Six things to bring to the appointment
- Health insurance card, ID, and the catastrophic illness card if there is one
- Every medication currently taken, in its original packaging, not copied onto a list
- The last test report or the hospital discharge summary
- Walking frame, glasses, hearing aid, dentures
- One sheet of paper with the questions you want answered
- A jacket and a small snack, because you will be waiting a long time
That list of questions is the most useful thing you can bring. Hand it to the doctor at the start and you will get three answers in five minutes.
When to book someone
- Your parent gets lost, tires quickly, or cannot follow the payment slip
- Test results are due and you need the full picture
- A first follow up after discharge, while things are still unsettled
- You are overseas or in another city and cannot get there
- Several departments in one month, more than your leave allows
- Your parent has a tube or a wound that needs handling on the way
The first follow up after discharge matters most. Medication and wound care usually get adjusted at that visit.
